what?

since i have 2 months to spare until i move into my new abode, i might as well dream about how i'll furnish my (first.ever.) real home (away from home.). Hard wood floors, big old windows...hmm. sweet georgia breezes blow thru ma haaaair. okay, so with the mention of hair, here i go: i've been focusing on all the many positive aspects about moving down there but believe me, i am sarah after all so there are some negz up in my brain.

#1 would have to be the hair situation. see, i have naturally wavy hair at an awkward 'getting longer' length, that gets it's occasional frizz session, with FULL BANGS. how are BANGS going to hold up with good ol southern air? i'm going to need some tips from somebody because goddamn. shits gonna get weird. I'm going to start prepping myself at how to not be a sweaty puffy mess.

on a side note that has nothing to do with basically anything: why do i have to cry at literally everything? i have become a cry baby adult. since i've been born, the second anyone looks at me weird, yells at me/fights with me, i instantly cry. especially if it's my parents. screaming? mad? instant tears. but lately, it's been about weird tv shows about babies or anything like that. last night i was watching Sixteen and Pregnant and just lost it, with hot tears streaming down my face. WHAT? it was just so sad and babies are so cute and i just respect mothers so much, especially young ones who are truly just trying to make it. Needless to say, this will be my new favorite show (giving my friends yet another reason to roll their eyes at some of my CHOICES) and i hope i cry every time. it's a nice release but come on...it makes me feel creepy. It's usually tears of joy at A Baby Story or something but the fact that i'm even subjecting my 20 year old mind to all of it is enough for me to hear Chris Hansen tapping at my window to tell me to take a seat.

big news!

i'm still slightly in shock because this happened so quickly but..i signed the lease for my first apartment ever today! Now, originally I was planning on dorming in SCAD apartment style living, with a meal plan, and not knowing my exact living assignment til mid august (WEIRD), so for the past month i've been creeping on craigslist to see what is available. I recieved a lot of feedback but none of it felt right. I was having a tough night (some dumb heartbroken girly stuff.) and decided to check back and came across an ad that fit perfectly! Within 24 hours, all of the information was given to my parents & i, one of the roommates and I got in contact with eachother (and our parents got in touch), last night my uncle who lives near savannah swung by the home and BAM! today we signed the lease & fed-exed it away. i cannot explain how excited i am.

Not only is it cheaper, much better, more beautiful with more freedom, i also get to move in anytime in august rather than the end of september. this gives me time to settle in, find a job and get used to my new home before starting hectic classes. One of the perks is that one of the girls i'm going to live with is my age & a fashion major. All i know is that i really do believe when one door closes, another one opens. This week really made me realize that even more.

ps: the house is an old mansion that is broken off into four apartments. i was thinking of posting a pic of the home but that might be a little unsafe. it's a big old southern home with mossy trees and a huge porch. it's beautiful, and blocks away from downtown & really close to forsyth park. i cant wait to be footsteps away from this place, (one of the first places im going to apply to work at!) among others. i know it's going to be tough at times, being there by myself & learning the ropes all over again but change is COOOOOL.
im already dreaming how i will decorate, of course with permission from my roommates. i'm a 45 year old woman at heart, what do you expect come aaannn.

new new new new!

lots of new items in the store! please check it out

Yesterday I came across Built By Wendy and wah wah wah wah wah i want everything.

Today started out weird but ultimately has been one of those good days that you don't realize is good. One of those days when nice things are happening around you, and everyone you love is healthy & safe, and you're in a pissy mood and it makes you go "shut the fuck up, life is kind of cool and you need to stop sulking." to yourself. Oh yeah. You know those days.

quick playlist. enjoy!

Hi June

spending the night in beautiful new york city yesterday was not-so-beautiful due to the terrential downpour, leaving me basically looking like a homeless frizzy curl rat but atleast we just went to a bar so it was fine eventually. how is it that even in that weather, with the wind, the grayness, the buckets of rain coming down...there were so many new york girls struttin around looking as perfect as ever. with perfect hair, chic umbrellas (how the fuck do you make an umbrella look chic, i dont know.) bitches!

so today i was scrolling through pics from New York Social Diary, which is filled with those perfect-never wet rats in the rain-new york girls, but mostly their botox moms, dads and grandparents and others of course. So, luckily I found this from the Oscar De La Renta 2010 resort collection and i was blown away. how beautiful his work is.

marc jacobs was the first designer that i started to show interest in once i hit my teens. somethin' about the playful colors & designs that are feminine yet are mixed with this edgy, retro feel. he always has the coolest muses (sophia coppola, kim gordon, lil kim, winona ryder, just to name a few..) and really has a savvy business mind. everytime i go to manhattan, i always stop by his extremely tiny but great accessories store on bleeker st. where you can find so many items for under $50! his clothes & accessories are perfect for the type of girl i am, and it's pretty affordable (well, the marc by marc jacobs line..) compared to a lot of other designers. I usually never give up hope in MJ.

So just now, I was checkin' my mail and good ol' Rachel Zoe sent me her Piperlime* picks (Gap.inc, i'm still reppin & supporting you no matter what.) and Marc by Marc Jacobs beautiful and colorful bags totally made me say "stop it." outloud by myself. I'm not huge into color except when I want that one pop of color or something but holy hell, these bags are the most soothing, candy/fruit-like wonderland of all bags. I want to just bathe in them, or throw them in a blender with ice (fuck! no. i just commit handbag sin by even considering throwing them in a blender.)
The shapes? Come on. Texture? I'm just imagining how soft and perfect they are. Practical? Kind of.

I mean, if you're 20 years old with a passion for bags and you find yourself with a little extra money, marc by marc jacobs is the best idea. right? are you nodding at the screen? you better be. my jetta can just keep shaking in the rain, have weird brakes and an engine problem because you know what? i need a new bag. byyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeee.

*if you don't know, Piperlime is part of the Gap.Inc family. It's an online shoe & accessories store that offers the most adorable mix of high & low end designer goods. rachel zoe has a regular feature on the site where she picks her favorite items which are usually always sure to please. atleast for my eyes? but yeah. piperlime is great, and fairly new so check it out. always great sales!

well this is one tiny ass photo, but do you see what i see? yes. kathy fucking griffin on the cover of bust fucking (alright, that didnt sound ok) magazine. Bust magazine is perfect in almost every way possible. Hell, I'd put down Nylon and/or every other magazine on the market in a heartbeat if it meant reading BUST all day. And you better believe that I still find Kathy Griffin hilarious.

This magazine is funny, honest, and best of all: aimed towards strong women who just want to be their best for themselves. Hardly any mention of "DReSsSs For YOur GuY", or "weIGhty LossSs to FiT IN THAT dReSS". hell no! Bust is too busy figuring out other cool topics to talk about and interesting women to feature. Next time you see this magazine on the shelf (which may or not be in the gay/lesbian section which confused me and made my friend look at me with "sarah is kind of gay" eyes), pick it up and read it. I bet you'll like it, and best of all...they support Etsy!

In other magazine news, I was at a consignment store by my house in long beach island and found Domino Magazine book for FOUR DOLLARS. The world is cool sometimes, huh guys?
