ocean grove, nj

as you may know (if you know me or if you read this thing), i love supporting new jersey. it's a great place to live/visit, so don't pay attention to all of the shit that NJ gets on t.v. or through rumors. yes, weird crap exists here. guidos and jersey shore tv show type people exist (*ahem* those people usually wander on over here from staten island..) But for the most part, it's a really lovely place.

if you want to get a good glimpse of the jersey shore, stay away from seaside heights, wildwood, ocean city, etc. Try and go to places like Spring Lake, Sea Bright, Asbury Park, LBI, Red Bank, Atlantic Highlands, Long Branch, Deal, etc. And absolutely make a trip to Ocean Grove, which is right next to Asbury Park. There is a whole interesting history of Ocean Grove (I even did a whole report on it in 4th grade!) that's pretty cool so check it out if you ever get a chance. It's a tiny dry beach town town that is still very much focused around their church in the center of town. Wikipedia it or something!

Anyway, today I spent the day in Ocean Grove for their town wide flea market/garage sales/magic. it was prettiness overload. i love it there so much. I found some great finds like an antique mirror, cake plate, a porcelain bust of Beethoven (y'allz know how i love old weird busts) and a beautiful sewing table from the 1940's.

It was hot out but it didn't matter (well, after a while it did) I loved it! I believe they have this event three times a year so if you're in the area, check it out. Also- stop at Baker Boys for cupcakes & to appreciate the beauty of their calm and old fashioned decor. From their beautiful white tin ceilings all the way to their presentation of their baked goods. So good and pretty!
